Back after a two week break we continue with a band that pushed me further into metal land.
HammerFall play genuine Power Metal and in my opinion they are far better than bands like Mannowar, Iron Maiden, etc. this video has everything a good Metal video needs: flames, guitar and background chorus

I have been an AMD fan for over 10 years but in since Intel ended the era of the Pentium IV and it’s insane extreme editions ( can anyone say TDP 190+ Watts) their CPUs tend to be the top performers and my opinion of them has significantly improved.
Now they have started a new Ad campaign that doesn’t fit the usual common end user audience as target … but see for yourself:
On April 16th the FH Hagenberg in Austria held its 4th Dance Stars competition where 28 Highschool teams had to compete for best dancing Hexapod of Austria. I personally think this is a great way of introducing teenagers to the wonderful world of Computer Science and it’s neighboring sciences.

From Finland hails the next band in the contest. Norther is another entry from the “Melodic Death Metal” subgenre. The video shown here is called “We Rock” and somehow looks quite similar to a video by In Flames which you can watch after the jump.
A few days ago this little fella (measuring 12.5cm) was sitting im my room … smashed him with a 1952 edition of Goethe’s FAUST.

The robots seem to be quite sophisticated for their tiny size equipped with two proximity sensors and 2 movable feet for propulsion.
Back to Sweden our next contestant is “Twilight of The Thunder God” by Amon Amarth.
It ain’t easy to put the musical style of Amon Amarth in one metal category alone since it’s more a blend of Death and Viking Metal.
I finally found the time to sort some pictures I took a few weeks ago of an ambitious self-made-midi-controller project some of my geek pals created:
Basically it’s a 16 button midi controller build from arcade style buttons fitted with leds that are controlled by an arduino. The buttons trigger a modified 6€ gamepad that has been gutted for it’s PCB since it’s cheaper than building a custom controller board.
